Modern Living

The modern system of education together with the media trains us to act in a certain way, use certain products to get various 'benefits', and do other things for an 'improved' lifestyle. However, not all these things are good for us. Some may cause health issues and higher spending, while others may result in fights, stress and unhappiness. It is important we recognize these things, and avoid them to ensure a good, peaceful life.

I have listed some of these things below, and will write further about them in future posts.
  • Promotion of 'Dessert' - a sweet food item to be had after meals.
  • Promotion of young couples living separately from parents in a 2-3 bedroom house.
  • Movies/TV showing it is fun to be single and avoid marriage
  • Movies/TV showing it is better to marry late.

Fighting Cancer with Vitamin B17

Lately, quite a few people have told me that friends or family members have been diagnosed with cancer. Doctors have advised surgery and chemotherapy to remove the 'tumour' and they are worried about this. They are suffering from stress - both financial, health and care related, as well as anxiety about the future.

This set me thinking - How is it possible for so many people to suddenly develop cancer? Why is it that when a person visits a doctor for a simple health issue, they come back with a diagnosis of cancer? Why do doctors recommend surgeries to remove tumours soon after diagnosis?

Well, cancer is a trillion-dollar industry, with even celebrities promoting 'awareness' and 'treatments'. After doing some research on JSTOR I came across various research papers by scientists (whose research is not promoted for obvious reasons) that show cancer to be a deficiency disease of Vitamin B17. By having regular dosages of Vitamin B17 (present in common fruits and vegetables), one can get rid of cancer and continue living a healthy life. Some sources of Vitamin B17 are:
  • Apple Seeds: You may have received forwards or social media posts saying that apple seeds contain cyanide, but don't be afraid. Cyanide is present in trace amounts only and you would have to eat about 40-50 apple cores in an hour for it to actually affect you. Apple seeds are actually a very good source of Vitamin B17, which helps fight and cure cancer.
  • Other fruit seeds: This includes seeds of apricot, peach, pear, prune or dried plum as well.
  • Wheat sprouts and bean sprouts.
  • Beans and peas: lobia, rajma, green beans sabzi and french beans.
  • Kernels of bitter almonds
  • Mulberries: shahtoot and other berry fruits like strawberry and gooseberry
  • Unprocessed grains: brown rice, groats of oats, barley, millets, jowar, bajra etc.
In addition to having foods rich in Vitamin B17, also do the following:
  • Keep your body alkaline: Drink a glass of hot water with some lemon juice in the morning. This helps maintain alkalinity in your body and prevents tumours/cancer from occuring. Read my article on 'alkaline foods' for more details.
  • Remove plastic bottles and utensils from your home: Do not store food in plastic containers and never drink water from plastic bottles. This is important. Plastic from such bottles and containers gets attached to food/water particles and enters the blood stream. This is extremely harmful and causes various health issues as well as prevents the body from using the minerals and vitamins present in the food you eat.
Many people know the truth about cancer and its freely available cure, but are afraid to speak up. There is a lot at stake - millions of dollars in research funding, education, running hospitals, the pharmaceutical industry etc. - and of course lots of jobs.

Let me know how this article has helped you and your family fight cancer.

Three Dietary Tips for Maintaining Good Health

Health is wealth, and if you are tired of falling sick everytime, here are a few tips to help you improve your health and lead a better life.

Tip 1: Eat Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables Only - Today, due to the availability of modern transportation and cold storage facilities, we get a variety of vegetables and fruits in the market. In large cities, we also find foreign exotic fruits and vegetables sold at premium prices. These include fruits such as avocados, dragon fruit, galanjal, blueberries etc. We can also buy winter vegetables like spinach and green peas in the peak of summer. If not available in stores, they can be ordered online. If you wish to maintain good health, the idea is to live a simple life and only eat seasonal fruits and vegetables that grow in the area you live. Eating such organically grown local seasonal vegetables and fruits will give you the minerals and vitamins to bear the weather conditions in the area you live (whether extremely hot, cold or humid) and protect you against endemic infections or diseases occurring during the particular season.

Tip 2: Eat Food that Agrees with your Body - Everyone has a unique body type, and there may be some foods that others may comfortably eat but which may not be suitable for your body. If you feel an aversion to some types of food, or suffer some health issue after eating it - then keep it simple and just don't eat it. For example, while cow's milk is promoted as a healthy drink, it causes stomach problems for some people who may be lactose intolerant. Other foods which may not be good for some people are chocolates, egg, meat, coffee, peanuts, rajma etc. Family and friends may encourage you to consume these items (due to supposed health benefits or other reasons etc) but if you feel they are not good for you then politely refuse. Also do not force anyone else to eat something if they say they do not want it.

Tip 3: Do not Overeat - No matter how much you like a particular dish or how much you paid for it, do not eat too much of it. Whether it is your favourite biryani lovingly prepared by your mom, wedding or festival delicacies, or a free office lunch, we need to exercise restraint and resist the temptation to stuff our stomachs with food. At buffet lunches and dinners, we may be tempted to try the various yummy dishes on offer. Here it is best to choose a few dishes you are comfortable with rather than taking a sampling of all dishes on offer in your plate. Take small to moderate helpings of food that blends well together and keep your stomach half empty. This will make you feel comfortable after the meal and leave space for a glass of water without stretching or stressing the stomach.

Following these three tips will help you improve your health and contribute to your general well-being.

Get Rid of Tinnitus With Chakra Healing

Tired of hiring those strange sounds in your ears? Well, now you can get rid of Tinnitus by trying chakra healing, an ancient system of Indian spiritual healing.

If most people sit quietly in a totally silent space (like a sound recording studio) they may hear a slight whirring sound coming from their heads. In a normal environment (home/office), the regular sounds we hear around us usually drown out these tiny noises in the ears, and we don’t realize that they exist.

Tinnitus is a condition where a patient occasionally experiences louder noises in their ears. This could range from a hissing sound, a buzzing sound, a ringing sound, a roaring sound, a tinkling sound or an incessant humming. Some people suffering from Tinnitus also hear a strange ‘digital’ sound or the ‘TV tone’ sound. While in most cases, noises in the ears may have an underlying treatable cause, sometimes, doctors are not able to do anything to get rid of them.
Getting rid of noises in the ears

Tinnitus is a health problem usually seen in people over the age of 40. When people usually hear these sounds for longer periods on a more frequent basis, they decide to visit a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Some treatable causes of noises in the ears are wax accumulation, earache, infections in the inner ears, head injuries, auditory nerve tumours and anaemia. Patients suffering from Tinnitus also show other medical symptoms like ear pain, hearing loss, dizziness and nausea. In many cases, doctors find no cause for tinnitus, even after doing a whole lot of tests.

Getting Rid of Strange Noises in the Ears

Whether it is a buzzing, ringing or hissing sound that you hear, you can get rid of tinnitus through chakra healing. This form of healing is very simple. You just have to meditate on a colour, sound, element and sense, for about 10 minutes, around 3-4 times a day.

Well, hearing strange ringing sounds in the ear is connected to the sixth chakra, known as the ‘Ajna Chakra’. This chakra is associated with ‘clairvoyance’ or ‘clear seeing’, and it has its centre in the ‘third eye’ – which is the area of the forehead in between your two eyes. It is linked to the colour indigo blue, the sound ‘Aum’, and the ayurvedic element ‘light’.

According to chakra healing, problems like tinnitus generally occur when a person is facing certain emotional and mental problems, which disturb the functioning of the ‘ajna chakra’. Some of these issues include:
  • Truth and knowledge issues
  • Intellect issues
  • Having/lacking intuitive powers
  • Learning from experience
  • Feeling inadequate about oneself
  • Inner wisdom
  • Knowing about yourself and self-evaluation
  • Open-mindedness: accepting yourself and others
  • Listening and seeing openly
If you are experiencing ringing in the ears, chances are that you would most probably be facing one or some of the above issues. One way to get rid of Tinnitus would be to recognize that these issues need resolving, and begin practicing chakra meditation to harmonize the sixth chakra.

Chakra Healing Steps
  1. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position.
  2. Close your eyes and keep your body relaxed.
  3. Slowly breathe in and out.
  4. Chant the sound ‘Aum’ as you exhale.
  5. Imagine the colour ‘indigo’, especially in the area of your ears. Imagine this area glowing with a bright indigo light, and pulsating with energy.
You may have to do this a few times a day for a few weeks, to get rid of tinnitus completely. In addition, you should also try to solve the underlying emotional issues that are causing the sixth chakra to act up. For example, if the issue you are facing is lack of open-mindedness, try and keep your mind more open to what you are being close-minded to – whether new ideas or new people or new things or new changes in yourself.

Please let me know if this worked for you. For step-by-step chakra healing instructions and information about how it works, please read the full article about chakra healing here.

Getting Rid of Ingrown Toenails with Salt Water

Foot pain can occur due to various reasons, of which ingrown toenails is a major cause. According to experts, about six million people in America itself are known to develop an ingrown toenail each year. In most cases, these ingrown toenails are very painful and cause a lot of discomfort. So, how to get rid of them?

Salt Water for Treating Ingrown Toenails

According to scientists at California’s Stanford University, soaking the affected foot in a solution of warm salt water can cure ingrown toenails within a period of 4 days. When preparing a salt water bath for soaking your feet, ensure that the temperature of the water is ‘warm’ and not ‘hot’, otherwise you risk getting problems like chilblains, which would increase your discomfort.

The researchers say that the salt in the warm water solution naturally removes inflammation. In addition, salt is anti-bacterial, so it quickly gets rid of the tiny germs around the ingrown toenail that is causing the swelling and pain. All you need to do is take 1 teaspoon of salt for each cup of water, heat the solution to a warm temperature, and soak your foot for about 20 minutes, two times a day.

Salt water solution for treating ingrown toenails

It shouldn't be long before the infection subsides. Ingrown toenails are an avoidable health issue that is generally caused by improper-fitting shoes and not cutting toenails. Bad hygiene, not washing your feet, not changing socks etc. are some things that aggravate an ingrown toenail and lead to painful infections that make the problem worse.

While salt water helps get rid of the infection, one must avoid wearing the ingrown-toenail causing shoes during this treatment period, together with dirty socks etc. Though loose comfortable slippers would be the best, you may sometimes have to wear shoes to go to office etc. If so, take along a pair of slippers which you can change into after you are comfortably seated behind your desk. Also change the pair of shoes you are regularly using – go for something very simple, without heels, narrow toes etc.

If you live near the seaside in a warm country, nothing can be better than soaking your feet in the warm sea water on the beach. Take a stroll in the sand, and let the natural salt from the warm waves soak into your feet and get rid of the ingrown toenails.

What Are Psychosomatic Diseases

Is your health problem becoming worse due to a mental or emotional factor? Well, some physical diseases or pains are believed to be caused due to daily stresses and various mental issues that a person may be suffering from. While issues such as lower back pain and high blood pressure have been proven to get worse due to stress, it is difficult to classify diseases as being purely caused by pyschosomatic reasons, a mix of psychosomatic reasons and physical reasons, or only physical reasons. One thing is clear, in many cases, taking care to reduce the psychosomatic factors behind the health issue has brought patients relief, in some cases even curing the problem.

List of Psychosomatic Health Problems and Emotional Factors

Here is a list of some common psychosomatic diseases, and the underlying mental and emotional factors that are known to cause them or make them worse, all arranged in alphabetical order.
  • ANEMIA: Not recognizing your value, and feeling weak about your self-worth.
  • ARTHIRITIS: Inability to express yourself, and feeling inadequate, like you have been imprisoned.
  • CANCER: Having severe hate and/or resentment for another person, but not showing them or expressing it openly. Keeping the hate bottled up, and turning is inwards, almost throughout one's life.
  • COLDS: Indecisiveness. Not making a decision when you need to do so. Feeling sorry for yourself for various reasons, and wishing to delay activity.
  • COLITIS AND ELIMINATION PROBLEMS: Over attachment to something or someone. Holding in communication and not telling someone what they should be told. Not releasing situations.
  • DIABETES: Having a selfish attitude. Not wanting to give (money, time, affection etc.), Holding back when it comes to being generous.
  • DIGESTIVE DISORDERS: Constant worrying, even about small things. Not letting yourself relax and do other things. This also causes ulcers.
  • EYE DISORDERS: Inability or refusal to see things or people as they really are.
  • HEAD ACHES: Feeling threatened or pressured by the environment in which you are in, usually happens in office.
  • HEART ATTACK: If you are feeling pressured by responsibilities and want to escape from the situation.
  • HEART PROBLEMS: Lack of love.
  • HEARING DISORDERS: Inability or refusal to listen or accept what you hear, or what people are telling you.
  • KIDNEY DISORDERS: Condemning yourself. Not forgiving yourself for something you may have said or done. Not understanding self value, and not accepting love.
  • LOWER BACK PROBLEMS: Mental power struggles
  • LUNG DISORDERS: Restricted feeling, attitude of feeling loss of freedom
  • MIDDLE BACK PROBLEMS: Apprehensive, fearful, unable to support self.
  • NECK AND SHOULDER TENSION: Carrying other people’s problems and thinking of them constantly. Feeling you have the whole world on your shoulders and lots of problems to solve.
  • NERVOUS DISORDERS: Being too demanding of yourself and restrictive. Letting emotions build up and not letting them out.
  • PROSTATE DISORDERS: This happens to men who are not appreciating their masculine expression. Sometimes when one feels guilt and/or fear to express an aggressive quality. Also, a feeling of being unproductive.
  • REPRODUCTIVE DISORDERS IN WOMEN: Not appreciating the feminine expression. Feeling guilt and/or fear to express the receptive quality. Also, a feeling of unproductivity.
  • SINUS PROBLEMS: Restriction in expression. A feeling of being trapped. Being overly sensitive to what others say or do.
  • STROKES: Problems with members of the family of origin (parent’s family)
  • THROAT DISORDERS: These usually have to do with using the will. The need to make a decision and delaying in doing so, or not carrying out with the decision.
  • ULCERS: Feeling out of control, and not being able to control someone. Wanting to control others and their situations.
One can get relief from these psychosomatic health problems by trying to solve and work around the underlying emotional/mental cause. For example, if you are suffering from an ulcer, try to find out whom you are trying to control, and stop doing that. Both you and that person will benefit.

After that, you can try some chakra meditation to further heal a friend or yourself. Here is a chart with more information about psychosomatic health problems, the underlying emotional causes behind it and the part of the body affected:

Chart on Psychosomatic Illnesses and Related Emotions

Take a look at this chart of psychosomatic health problems, and check if you continuously talk to yourself in the way mentioned beside each health issue. If you do, it is time to help yourself and change. You could find someone to talk to: maybe a family member, counselor, friend, spiritual person or psychologist. You can also read spiritual articles, to help you solve your mental and emotional problems yourself.

Get Rid of Stomach Cramps (Endometrial Pain) with Oats

About 8-12 percent of women are known to suffer from endometrial pain in the form of ‘stomach cramps’, which can cause a lot of discomfort. One of the best ways to get rid of stomach cramps caused due to endometriosis is to have a bowl of oatmeal every day.

Endometriosis occurs when small parts of the uterine lining get detached and begin to grow outside the uterus.According to experts, these migrating cells can cause a lot of pain during menstruation. They sometimes result in so much inflammation, that one suffers from severe stomach cramps during their periods, together with a heavy ache that may last almost the entire month.

Reducing Stomach Cramps with Oats

This may prevent one from doing the things one wants to do and enjoying life as much as one would like to. However, there is no need to worry too much about how to cure it. According to research conducted by scientists, one can get rid of stomach cramps caused by endometriosis by choosing a diet rich in oats. This sort of diet has helped reduce endometrial pain for about 60 percent of women, within a period of six months.

Getting rid of endometrial pain with a bowl of oats

The main reason for this is that oats don’t contain ‘gluten’, a protein that triggers pain and inflammation in many women, and makes stomach cramps during menstruation periods very painful and almost unbearable. I usually have a bowl of oats about three times a week for breakfast, and I can thankfully say that it has brought me relief. Together with getting rid of stomach cramps, oats also have other benefits, such as improving your complexion and keeping you healthy overall.

There are different ways to cook oats. You can have it sweet in the morning with fruits for breakfast, add it to soups to thicken it, or have a savory dish with meat for dinner. If you have decided to go for an oatmeal diet to reduce monthly stomach cramps, then please let me know about your experience and whether you got any relief, by posting a comment below.
